MY PRACTICE

My recent practice has been heavily influenced by Brutalist Architecture whereby I combine photography with mixed media including paint and textiles to create handmade and digital collages.

Working with realistic imagery as well as brightly coloured pattern often natural in reference allows me to explore my interest in the crossover between art and design. In relation to this Henri Matisse has influenced my most recent works immensely, aiding my understanding in how colour and form can completely alter an environment.

I have recently began examining how natural and organic forms can have an effect on architecture whether this be modern, abandoned or decayed buildings which leads me to the notion of the sublime. I explore the former topic through printed surface pattern design and digital imagery installed in site specific places in order to portraying the power of the wilderness and the human imagination today.
